Note: AVFGA'S Annual Women's Firearms Familiarization Program for 2024 registration is closed at this time. A date for registration will be announced later.

This six hour familiarization program is designed exclusively for women over the age of seventeen who have little or no experience with the handling or use of a firearm. This is not a hunter education course, self defense course, or marksmanship course.

The program consists of a two hour classroom session from 9:00am to 11:00am stressing firearms identification, function and safe handling. Lunch will be from 11:00am to 11:30am. As there are no close by food outlets and the time is short it is suggested that participants bring a lunch with them. This is followed by a four hour range session from 11:30am to 3:30pm which includes firing 22 rifles, pistols, a 9mm handgun, and a shotgun at paper and reactive targets.  Firing the shotgun is optional.

All firearms will be provided by the Androscoggin Fish and Game Association or its Directors. The format for the range session will be one-on-one instruction. This requires you and the instructor to work closely together. Participants have the option to wear a mask if they so choose.

The one-on-one is limited to 20 participants that can be accommodated during the range session and because of this participation it will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Classroom and range sessions will be held outdoors at the Androscoggin Valley Fish & Game Association's range located on East Milan Road in Milan, NH.

Note: Registration for this course is closed because no date is set at this time for the event.

After you register, you will then receive a waiver that needs to be filled out before attending program.

Participants will receive notification that they are enrolled in the program.

The $10.00 charge for the program covers the cost of materials.
